Jones Journal Monthly e-Mailer for August 2002

camping_at_Little_Northfork.jpg Dear Friends,

The purpose of this monthly e-mail is to share updates on ministry, family, praise and prayer. Almost all of our attention has been focused on getting back to Panama!

Both the July e-Mailer and this August issue were composed and generated while traveling between CA and OR. I did some deputation travel apart from the family, but for the most part we enjoyed visiting grandparents, aunts and uncles. Plus we enjoyed God's beautiful creation hiking Silver Creek Falls, camping at Little North Fork (pictured here), and building a canal--not a sand castle--on the coast at Lincoln City (must be the Panama influence!).

This next paragraph I've titled "The Bothman's Blessing." Krista Davis was one of Yvonne's maids of honor--a dear Christian friend since high school. I knew her since stage band in junior high. She married Mike Bothman, a terrific Christian guy who was a missionary kid (MK) to boot! They were planning to take their three daughters to vacation and visit us in Panama this December using bonus money from his job. After the Lord's prompting and talking it over with their girls, they decided instead to use that money to help us back to Panama.

As we sat in their living room listening, both Yvonne and I got teary-eyed. That's the type of sacrifice that humbles a missionary. We know it has to be God who is calling the shots when He does things like this. We are trusting that the Lord will doubly bless the Bothmans for their sacrifice, plus bring them down to Panama to visit *next* December!

To date, we've held 119 services and had 64 appointments with pastors. Currently we have 133 supporters providing monthly pledges totaling $7836.50 of the original $9937* needed. Cash budget is about $22,700 of the original $47,842* needed (* both figures are under revision).

Comparing to last month, there's been a marked increase in pledges--praise the Lord! It makes me think maybe I should just schedule the last three months of deputation, instead of an entire year, because that's when all the pledges come in! Ojala' -- that's Spanish for "I wish!"

Philippians 4:17-19
17 Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking for what may be credited to your account.
18 I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.
19 And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

God bless you. Yours for Them,

Kirk for all
